Now John Thompson and Partners are drawing up plans which will include demolition of a giant warehouse built when the cargo industry was booming at Whitby, and the development of' housing with facilities for a visitor centre and tall ships.
Artists' impressions are being produced following a series of workshops focusing on the town's tourism industry, economic development, heritage, and harbour.
A community forum to discuss the ideas is being held at Whitby Coliseum on Wednesday, February 13.
