FIVE North-East schools have been awarded grants for science activities.
The schools received £750 each from the British Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Association for Science Education.
The money is for projects such as science fairs and is linked with the Government's Science Year.
In the North-East, Woodham Community College, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, received a grant for its science club and family learning day; Blakeston Community College, Stockton, received money for its year nine science careers day; and Wolsingham School and College, in Teesdale, obtained cash for Wasp activity boxes and a Sky on the Move planetarium.
