A MAJOR extension to a town's primary school has been completed in time for Christmas, at a cost of more than £200,000.
North Yorkshire County Council has just finished work on the project at Boroughbridge Community Primary School.
Headteacher David Roberts said of the new block: "This provides two splendid new classrooms together with pupil toilets.
"The governors have worked with the council to fund this scheme. This gives us much-needed additional space."
The county council's education director, Cynthia Welbourn, said: "The project was designed to meet the school's needs in the face of increasing pupil numbers.
"The project was developed in partnership with the school, and the governing body is contributing from funds made available directly by the Government."
