PARENTS and grandparents are being asked to cast their minds back to their schooldays as a community tries to recreate playground games.
Spin the top, hopscotch and skipping games will be brought back as the Shildon Centre collects memorabilia from the school yard.
Children's development worker at the centre, Maureen Blenkarne, said: "We are also trying to collect old toys that were used in the playgrounds so we can put up a display at Shildon Town Carnival.''
Mrs Blenkarne wants to write the games in a book for children to learn in time for the carnival on May 25.
