A QUICK thinking four-year-old is being hailed a hero for saving his grandmother's life.
Brave Adam Courtley, from Tudhoe, is being hailed a hero after his diabetic grandmother was taken ill while looking after him on Wednesday night.
Yvonne Foreman had collapsed in the living room at her home in Framwellgate Moor, Durham and was unable to move, while her grandson was in the bath.
But luckily Adam kept a cool head and with his gran shouting instructions to him, he pulled the plug out the bath, got himself dressed and called for help after finding his grandmother's panic button necklace in the living room.
All the while Yvonne lay helpless and vomiting on the floor.
His dad, Brian Courtley, said: "He had to stay with her until the ambulance arrived. When they came he dragged a stool from the bathroom and pulled the latch down for them to get in.
"I'm so proud of him. The ambulance people couldn't credit him enough when I arrived home."
Luckily, Yvonne, who is still in the University Hospital of North Durham, recovered from her ordeal.
A spokesman from the North-East Ambulance Service: "Adam did very well and should be congratulated on his bravery and quick-thinking."
