Thirsk Falcons - THE Under-9s entertained Bedale, winning three out of the four games and also scored their 100th goal of the season whilst only conceding 11. Thirsk A took on Bedale B in the first game and went in at half time 3-0 up.
Nick Newcombe scoring two, one of which lobbing the Bedale keeper from distance, Nick Cressey grabbing the other with another long-range shot. The second half saw Thirsk pile more pressure on Bedales defence which resulted in six more goals. Newcombe scoring three more, one a free-kick from a tight angle which flew into the top corner giving the keeper no chance, to take his tally to five.Nick Cressey Daniel Easton and a first goal of the season for Simon Taylorson completing a 9-0 victory.
Thirsk A then had a tougher game against Bedale A. Thirsk created several good chances but the Bedale keeper pulled off some fine saves to deny Thirsk a repeat performance from the previous game. The winning goal eventually came late in the first half when a shot from Daniel Easton was turned into his own net by a Bedale defender to give Thirsk the win they deserved.
Thirsk B took on Bedale A and lost by a single goal in a close-fought game. Thirsk B then put in a better display against Bedale B and came out 2-1 winners with goals from Steven Jamieson and Ben Elders.
Byers Green
THE Under-11s put in a fine performance to defeat South Moor 4-2 in the Russell Foster Premier League on Sunday. Byers had the best of the early exchanges, but it was South Moor who were first to score, going 1-0 up after 15 minutes. The goal was followed by a spell of pressure from South Moor, which Byers weathered well. Keeper Adam Jackson and defender Chris Storey in particular fine form, the score at half time remaining 1-0 to South Moor. The second half saw Byers Green play some of their best football of season to come back and take all three points comfortably. Chris Storey equalised with a fine lob over the goalkeeper from the edge of the box after South Moor had tried to clear the constant pressure. The second goal was a fine strike from the edge of the box by Josh Fowler after Michael Condron had cut the ball back from the wing to create the opportunity. The third came five minutes later and was a fine team goal. After several uninterrupted passes Paul Hunter received the ball in midfield and laid it out with his first touch to Daniel Russell on the wing, Daniel chipped the ball over the defence and into the path of Richard Suddes who had timed his run perfectly beat the offside trap and found himself one on one with the keeper. Richard kept his cool, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.
Byers appeared to be in a comfort zone with a two-goal lead, however battling South Moor pulled one back with five minutes to go. Adam Jackson very unlucky after making a great save to see the ball just fail to go over the line for a corner and the South Moor striker followed up to finish. Byers were not finished yet however a great defence splitting through ball by Josh Fowler found Adam Peart on the edge of the box, Adam still had a lot of work to do, but his pace took him past the defence and he smashed the ball into the corner of the net past the keeper. The final whistle went soon after, a great result for Byers.
On Sunday Byers are away to South Tyneside.
Rohm and Haas JOC Hetton Youth League
Sacriston moved into second position when they won Lumley by an only goal. With just a minute remaining David Hope finally broke the deadlock. Both Craig McManus and John Lidster went close for Lumley.
Jarrow St Bedes have a six-point lead over Herrington following their 5-1 victory at Lambton Street. Dave Leonard and Daniel McGinley gave Jarrow a two-goal cushion and although Dave Snowdon pulled a goal back for the Wearsiders, Jarrow finished strongly and scored further goals through McGinley, Colin Magee and Paul Burkell.
Herrington, whose game at Trimdon was postponed because both sides had players in the Durham County squad, have played four matches fewer than Jarrow and have a 100 per cent record.
South Moor are third and they saw off the challenge of Washington Dunlop 7-2. Kelvin Armstrong, Philip Raisbeck and Ben Thompson had them 3-0 up by the halfway stage and during the second period Armstrong completed his hat-trick and Raisbeck also scored again. Kris Hewitt completed South Moor's scoring and for Washington Dunlop Daniel Gray and James Kerr netted consolation goals.
Trimdon, like Herrington, have won all their matches but they have fulfilled just seven fixtures whereas some sides have played 14.
Ryhope, who have not enjoyed the success to which they have been accustomed to in recent seasons, recorded their fifth win in the 14 games defeating Hebburn 2-1 with a brace of goals by Paul Fenwick.
New County North Durham Youth League
Quarter finals of the Edward Wanless Trophy were staged and three sides, Sandhole, South Shields Abfad and Redheugh went through into the last four but Leam Rangers and Cleveland Hall will have to replay their tie after being involved in a ten-goals thriller.
Anthony Hetherington and Daniel Graham both scored twice for Leam Rangers whose other marksman was David Smith while no fewer than five players, Andrew Jeffrey, Michael Maughan, John Morton, Dean Bramwell and Mark Heron found the net for Cleveland Hall.
Robbie, Craig Mickle, Gavin Clews and Sean Kilkenny all found the net for Sandhole who defeated Prudhoe Town 4-1. Lee Pringle hit a consolation goal for Prudhoe.
South Shields Abfad just edged Felling Magpies 5-3 thanks to strikes by Paul Farham (2), Adam Carr, Dean Codley and Carl Wood. Mark Berry (2) and Craig Stewart kept Felling in with a chance.
Redheugh made the highest score of the four quarter final ties and they comfortably reached the semi-finals with a 6-0 win at Blaydon where the goals were scored by Tony Thirkell (3), Aidan Atkinson, Gary Andrews and Michael Barnes.
Two games were played in the Under-16 division and there were victories for Chester-le-street WP and Consett. Chris Rooney (2), Martin Rowell (2), Scott Embleton and Stephen Dobbing all found the target in Waldridge Fell's 6-0 victory at Wear Valley while Chris Megson hit four goals and Paul Latham bagged a brace as Consett ended 6-1 ahead of Winlaton whose consolation goal was scored by Martin Best.
In the League Cup Annfield Plain defeated Gateshead Fell 8-2 with strikes from Dean Bainbridge, Simon Rowell (2) Stephen Kirkbride (3) were helped with two own goals from Andy Green. Anthony Armstrong and Franco Dipetrie replied for Gateshead Fell.
Ray McTear, Daniel Olsugar and Tony Clark were all on target as Redheugh finished 3-1 ahead of Wardley for whom Graham Ash scored his side's only goal.
Chris Jamieson (2) and Jamie Gray enabled Hebburn Clegwell to progress at the expense of Sandhole and an only goal by Kevin Poppleton was sufficient for Cleveland Hall in their home game with Haydon Bridge.
Brompton
THE Under-13s entertained a much improved Darlington Albion team on Sunday. Brompton forwards Lukas Sutton and Stefan Pearson were denied by some strong defending in the early part of the match but in the 21st minute Sutton's brilliant through-ball sent Pearson away to score. Eight minutes later Peter Star converted Pearson's corner to enable the home side to take a 2-0 lead into half time. Despite creating some good chances in the second half, the home side could not add to their lead. Kyle Fedyszyn was Brompton's man of the match with some excellent 'wing-back' play.
Brompton Under-15s fought-out a tight local derby against rivals Northallerton and the match was settled in the second half with a 20-yard strike from Northallerton's Nathan Adams. Although Brompton created chances, the best from Tony Fryer with a half volley from six yards, they were denied by excellent keeping from the Northallerton man of the match Dan Halliwell.
Brompton Under-16s go into the Christmas break top of the Teesside Alliance after a hard earned 4-4 draw against fellow title challengers Darlington West End. Brompton took control early in the match and were 2-0 up in the first 25 minutes with goals from Stimson and Vernalls. West End got one back before they handed Brompton a 3-1 lead through an own goal. Despite this West End caused problems with continuous pressure and this resulted in a goal of the stroke of half time. In the second half West End continued to pressurise the Brompton defence and they were rewarded with two quick goals taking a 4-3 lead. Brompton responded sticking to their task and a second goal for Stimson ensured a well-deserved point. Brompton's man of the match was Walker.
Catterick AWS
THE Under-9s travelled to to play Darlington Allstars. The game kicked off with both sides enjoying plenty of possession, but it was Allstars who took the lead with a free kick. AWS soon responded with plenty of pressure to force a corner. Joe Inglis provided a well taken corner to see skipper Arron Mornington score his 20th goal of the season. AWS put in an impressive performance with the game ending 1-1.
Man of the match was Jason Molingue. Manager Mark Blair would like to say Merry Christmas to all the kids on the team and he is proud of his team's performance.
Crook Town
THE Under-19s extended their lead at the top of the Northern Alliance North Division East to six points with a 9-2 victory at Harrogate Railway.
Highlights of a superb team performance were Paul Freary's five goals and two stunning volleys from Graham Irving and Stephen Roberts. Iain Curry and Adam Seymour were the other scorers.
The team is unbeaten in the league and cup all season and look certain to compete in the "Champions League" when the top teams in the four divisions come together in February.
Durham County
THE Under-18 juniors recorded a fine 3-0 victory at home to Essex in the third round of the FA County Youth Cup to earn a place in the quarter finals of this prestigious national competition.
The first half of the game at Washington Nissan's ground was closely contested and ended goalless. The deadlock was finally broken on the hour mark, David Angel of Trimdon juniors firing in the rebound after a shot from Crook Town's Dean Grayson had been parried by the keeper.
Angel put Durham ahead in the 84th minute with a shot on the turn from the edge of the area that flew into the top corner of the net. With two minutes to go, substitute David Stephenson from Jarrow St. Bedes split the Essex defence for Grayson to lob the keeper from 14 yards.
Durham, who beat Cumberland 5-0 and Westmorland 7-0 in previous rounds, are now at home to Suffolk in the fourth round on February 2.

Auckand & District Ebac Youth League
Barnard Castle Under-18s strengthened their grip on first place in the Auckland and District EBAC Youth League Cup qualifying table with a 3-1 victory away to bottom club Spennymoor Legion. Andrew Bellew, Steven Vanilla and Andrew Smith scored for the Barney boys, Terry Garside replying for the lads from the Legion.
Bishop Auckland beat visitors Willington 2-1 in the same competition.
Bishops scored two goals in the last five minutes of the first half through Dean Maddison (pen) and Andrew Fairley, Paul Bayles pulling one back for Willington early in the second half.
Ferryhill drew 1-1 at home to Coundon & Leeholme in the league. Ted Burleigh netted for the home side, Paul Rispin for the visitors.
Willington Boys
THE Under-15s had only 11 men for their trip to top of the table Jarrow in the Russell Foster Junior League premier division, due to holidays and injuries, but they gave a good account of themselves in losing 3-1.
Goalkeeper and MoM Peter Sewell saved a penalty for Willington. Mark Bowey, also a goalkeeper but playing up front because of the player shortage, scored Willington's only goal.
Willington Under-13s lost 4-3 away to leaders Durham County in another top of the table clash. Lewis Hope, David Dawson and Craig Alston scored for Willington with Micky Stoddard man of the match.
Bishop Auckland
St Mary's
THE Under-13s maintained their 100 per cent record in the Teesside Junior Alliance with a 3-1 victory away to Darlington Spraire Lads. Bishops conceded an early goal in this top of the table encounter, but went on to win comfortably with goals from Phil Sullivan, Lawrence Oliver and Peter Etherington.
Darlington Albion
THE Under-13s played away at Brompton but failed to capitalise on chances in front of goal in a fiercely contested match. Good effort was maintained in defence and midfield, strong performances coming from Lucas Coe, man of the match, Richard Metcalfe and Nicky Pryor. Two mistakes in the first half and a lack of clinical finishing in front of goal cost Albion the match, final score Brompton 2, Albion 0.
