SHEPHERDS arrived bearing gifts when construction workers brought Christmas presents for sick children.
Staff from Shepherds Construction working on Bishop Auckland's £67m hospital have been celebrating the completion of the new building and thought they would spread a little cheer to the youngsters in the children's ward at the current hospital.
On Thursday, they arrived with a PlayStation II and games, which they had brought with £330 raised after company directors matched the amount staff had collected.
Chips Computer Shop, in Bishop Auckland, also helped with donation. A further £150 was given by Shepherd's to the hospital's stroke unit.
The hospital has taken two years to build, and should be ready for occupation in four months' time.
