A Marvin Johnson goal six minutes from time denied Hartlepool all three points at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
Pools looked to be heading for their fourth away win of the season thanks to Darrell Clarke, who scored in each half.
The former Mansfield midfielder cancelled out Steve Howard's 35th minute opener for the home side with a a well taken goal on the stroke of half-time.
Clarke, whose only other goal this season came in the FA Cup against Swindon, grabbed his second of the afternoon with a delightful lob over Hatters 'keeper Mark Ovendale in the 59th minute.
Just a fortnight earlier, the Hatters recorded a 2-1 win at Victoria Park and it appeared as though Pools would gain revenge with the same scoreline. Cue Johnson.
Hatters boss Joe Kinnear introduced the big defender in place of Ahmet Brkovic on the hour mark and this was to prove a masterstroke as Johnson curled the ball into the top corner for his first goal in three-and-a-half years.
