POLICE are hoping to trace the drivers of two cars who may be able to help with an investigation into a serious road accident in the early hours of yesterday.
Pedestrian Graham Stainton, 29, of Regent Avenue, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, was hurt in a collision with a car as he crossed the town's Skipton Road, at about 12.15am.
Taken to Harrogate District Hospital with serious head injuries, he was later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where his condition was described last night as critical.
The driver of the silver Rover involved in the accident stopped at the scene and was also treated in hospital for shock.
However, police also want to speak to two other drivers, travelling behind the Rover, who had left before officers reached the scene.
Anyone who saw Mr Stainton in the town centre between 10pm and the time of the accident is urged to contact PC Rob Roberts on (01423) 539396.
