THREE people were cleared of the murder of a nightclub doorman yesterday.
Shaun Doyle, 28, Ian Morgan, 37, and his wife Joanne, 27, were accused of gunning down Kevin Nightingale on his doorstep, in South Shields, on February 27, 1996.
But after the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence against the three accused, not guilty verdicts were recorded.
The group had been the last people to see Mr Nightingale alive after they dropped him off at his home on the night of the shooting.
Mr Doyle, of Collingwood Street, Hebburn, and Joanne and Ian Morgan, of Suffolk Street in the town, all denied the charge.
