Police swoop nets ten
POLICE have swooped on a gang of suspected burglars in Sunderland. Detectives raided a number of addresses in the Thorney Close area of the city on Thursday and arrested ten people on suspicion of theft and burglary. Two men, four teenage boys, three teenage girls and one woman were later bailed pending further inquiries. The raids came after a lengthy intelligence-led operation. An amount of property was also confiscated. Detective Inspector Brian Young said: "We are determined to continue to target active offenders in the Sunderland West area."
