DISABILITY groups have branded an pantomime advert featuring "real dwarfs" as insensitive.
The poster, for Snow White, features petite actors under the banner "seven real dwarfs".
Darlington Association on Disability (DAD) and Disability North called for the wording to be changed, and branded the poster for the show, at Darlington Civic Theatre, as callous.
Disability North director David Barker said: "We are not going to criticise the actors for seeking employment, but the phrase 'seven real dwarfs' is uninformed and insensitive.
"Personally I think for the seven dwarfs they should use children."
Gordon Pybus of DAD, said: "It is the wording that will offend people.
"Any advertisements that offend people are not going to beneficial. They should have another look at the wording."
Darlington Civic Theatre declined to comment, while the pantomime's production company failed to respond to requests to discuss the show
