MINUTES after getting married, Barry and Michelle Waines were skating on thin ice.
Process operator Barry, 31, and Michelle posed for photographs on a temporary open air ice rink, just yards from Middlesbrough Registry Office where they tied the knot.
Barry proposed to 29-year-old clerk-typist Michelle Llewellyn on Christmas Day last year.
"We got engaged last Christmas. We wanted to get married as near to Christmas as possible and this was the closest we could get," he said.
Michelle did not finding skating in her wedding dress a handicap - she used to be enthusiastic amateur ice skater and frequent visitor to the Billingham Forum ice rink.
"We thought we would go for it, for a laugh. It was worth going out on the ice. We will remember it," she said.
"Photos are a lasting memory of the happy day and we will never forget taking a romantic skate just after the ceremony. It's something to tell the grandchildren!''
The couple are having a honeymoon in a wintry York
