A QUICK-THINKING four-year-old is being hailed a hero for saving his grandmother's life.
Adam Courtley, from Tudhoe, County Durham, came to the rescue when his diabetic grandmother was taken ill while looking after him last Wednesday.
Yvonne Foreman had collapsed in the living room of her home in Framwellgate Moor, Durham City, and was unable to move, while her grandson was in the bath.
But Adam kept a cool head, and with his grandmother shouting instructions he pulled the plug out the bath, got himself dressed and called for help after finding his grandmother's panic button in the living room.
Mrs Foreman lay helpless on the floor.
His father, Brian Courtley, said: "He had to stay with her until the ambulance arrived. When they came he dragged a stool from the bathroom and pulled the latch down for them to get in.
"I'm so proud of him. The ambulance people couldn't credit him enough when I arrived home."
Mrs Foreman, who was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, soon recovered from her ordeal.
A spokesman from the North-East Ambulance Service said: "Adam did very well and should be congratulated on his bravery and quick thinking.
