TOMMY Taylor had no complaints over the postponement of Saturday's match with Cheltenham - despite the referee waiting until almost midday to call the game off.
Feethams was covered in snow, and as soon as it began to fall around 9am the game never had a chance of being played despite the referee insisting he held an inspection at noon.
"I can't complain, not at all," said Taylor who used Saturday afternoon to try and bring in a striker with Carlo Corazzin and Michael Proctor at the top of his Christmas list.
"There was at least three inches of snow on the pitch although we did used to play in those conditions 20-30 years ago - but not when it was this bad.
"I woke up at about 7.30am and it was ever so cold, and then at about 8.45am the snow just bucketed down and it stayed like that for at least an hour and a half.
"But we need the three points as soon as possible if we're going to start catching people up.
"And it just means that Mark Ford and Barry Conlon are still going to be banned."
Referee Alan Kaye explained: "I set off from Wakefield in bright sunshine, it wasn't particularly cold but it quickly became apparent, as I was travelling up the A1, I met a wall of snow so I knew we were going to have problems.
"The club remained in contact with me throughout the morning and quite clearly when I arrived at the ground just before 11.45am it was obvious we were going to have problems even attempting to try and play football.
"There was about three of four inches of snow and it would just be an impossible task to play football, but, having said that, there are probably some health and safety risks for the spectators arriving at the ground."
The fact Darlington's pitch cover was not in use on Friday night is irrelevant because it would have been removed by 9am which is when groundsman, Andrew Thomspon begins marking-out the pitch.
No new date has yet been made for the rearranged game.
* Former Darlington loanee, Dan Chillingworth played the full 90 minutes of Cambridge's 2-0 defeat at Wycombe on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the Nationwide Second Division victory for Bristol City kept Danny Wilson's men within a point of leaders Brentford although it took an own goal by Wrexham's Brian Carey ten minutes from time to give them the points.
Reading lost ground, following last week's defeat, with a 1-1 draw with Wigan at the Madejski Stadium. John Salako put them in front but Simon Haworth levelled to leave Wigan unbeaten in seven games.
