THE Northern Echo is commemorating the Queen's golden jubilee by publishing a series of supplements looking at how various aspects of everyday life have changed in the course of her reign.

The first appeared last week and looked at how travel had been revolutionised in 50 years. The next is due to be published on February 20, and its subject will be health.

But we need the help of our readers.

One of the more successful aspects of the first supplement was your memories of your first holiday. For our next publication, we would like to hear your first, or your most enduring, medical memories.

What impressions do you have of your first stay in, or visit to, a hospital? What was your first GP like? How did your first childbirth go? What about your first filling, or first pair of spectacles?

What treatment did you have when you went down with chickenpox? Does everyone remember being smeared in pink calomine lotion?

Please send your memories to Golden Memories, The Northern Echo, Priestgate, Darlington DL1 1NF or e-mail chris.lloyd to ret
