PENNY the terrier cross-breed has had a tough time of it recently, but she has bounced back from her troubles and now just needs a loving home.
The affectionate 13-year-old was left homeless when her elderly owner died, and has since been in the care of the Blue Cross centre at Topcliffe, near York.
"She is a charming but independent little old lady with lots of character," said centre spokeswoman Sue Scott.
"She has been through quite a lot recently. As well as losing her owner, she also had some tumours removed, but is now bouncing back with confidence and is seeking a stable home with someone who can offer her the love and affection she needs."
Penny likes being the centre of attention and food - although she prefers human food if she can get away with it.
She also dislikes being around other dogs as she prefers to have all the attention for herself.
Her ideal home would be with an adult household where she is the only pet.
