A NORTH-EAST schoolgirl will represent the UK in an international table tennis tournament in Hungary this summer.
Samantha McCormick, 13, of Darlington, has been sponsored by her school to help pay for the trip.
She was presented with a cheque for £120 by the headteacher at Eastbourne School, Richard Appleton.
Samantha has been playing table tennis for two years, after having a month's coaching at her primary school.
She said: "I like it because it is energetic. I have not played for England before, so I am a bit nervous, but I am quite looking forward to it."
She will travel to Hungary with the rest of the team in June and spend a week competing in the tournament.
