School to host RAF concert
DURHAM School is hosting a concert today by the band of the Royal Air Force. The concert will be performed to an audience that will include pupils from St Margaret's and Godric's RC primary schools, Bow School and Durham's Chorister School. Four Durham School musicians, Robert Frater, Gemma Kern, Helena Rawson and Sebastian Cutteridge, have been invited to play with the band.
Roger Muttitt, the school's director of music, said: "With 40 per cent of our pupils involved in regular music making, you can imagine we are all very much looking forward to it.''
FESTIVAL THEME: The organisers of this year's Dunston Community Festival, in Gateshead, have adopted the theme of the Queen's golden jubilee. The event will be held at Dunston Park on Saturday, July 6.

WARD SURGERY: Easington District Councillors Joyce Maitland, Colin Patching and Grahame Morris and Durham County Councillor John Maddison will hold a surgery for people in the Murton East ward, in the Glebe Centre, Murton, on Monday, from 6pm to 7pm.
CONTEST OFF: Easington District Council has postponed the angling competition scheduled for Sunday, February 24.
AFTER DEATH: The comedy After Her Death will be staged at Stanley Civic Hall tomorrow, at 7.30pm. Presented by the Open Clasp Theatre Company, it follows four women unknowingly haunted by their recently deceased mothers. Suitable for over-13s. Tickets cost £7. Call (01207) 218899 to book.
