INVADERS who settled on Britain's shores are the subject of an exhibition at one of the North-East's smaller museums.
Work by local artist Val Mouncey complements the display, Invaders and Settlers, at Durham's Fulling Mill Museum of Archaeology.
Her collection, called Past Worlds, features the ancient civilisations of Egypt, China, Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean, as well as the Celts and the Vikings.
Some of these also form part of the archaeological display in the upper gallery of the museum.
Stockton-born Val, who now lives in Weardale, will give a mixed-media workshop on an historical theme, at the museum, on Monday, between 11.30am and 1pm. It costs £5 per person, with a £1 reduction for students. Places can be booked on 0191-374 3623.
The museum is open from Friday to Monday, from 11.30am to 3.30pm, in winter.
