POLICE uncovered dozens of pirated videos, games and counterfeiting equipment when they raided a home in Ferryhill, a court heard yesterday.
Michael Gough, from Duncombe Terrace, turned his hand to counterfeiting when he became a full-time carer for his mother.
He admitted 17 charges relating to counterfeiting after police uncovered 50 pirated films, 80 cassettes, CDs, PlayStation games and counterfeiting equipment.
George Armstrong, prosecuting on behalf of the Federation Against Copyright Theft, told Bishop Auckland magistrates that Gough sold the goods over the Internet.
He was also caught selling pirated PlayStation games for £3.50 from his home, which usually cost about £45 each.
Michael Clarke, in mitigation, said Gough had only made enough from the enterprise to take his partner and her three children to Flamingo Land for a few days.
He said the defendant had now put his knowledge to good use and had just completed a City and Guilds course in computer maintenance.
The case was adjourned until March 4 for a pre-sentence report.
