A 24-YEAR-OLD woman was attacked by two men and raped on a path at a Metro station yesterday morning.
The woman, who was last night recovering from her ordeal, was leaving the Tyne Dock Metro, in South Shields, South Tyneside, at 6.40am when the men grabbed her from behind.
Detective Inspector Ian Dawes, who is leading the hunt for the attackers, said: "This was an horrendous ordeal for her. While she was not injured she was severely traumatised and we are offering her every support."
Det Insp Dawes said the station was covered by security cameras and detectives would be examining footage for clues.
The first suspect had short dark hair, while the other was 6ft, aged about 33, of medium build and with a tanned or weathered complexion. He wore a black fleece and dark blue Levi jeans.
