Youngsters from as far afield as Russia have come together in County Durham.
Thirty-two teenagers from the hub of the former Soviet Union, Hungary, Slovakia, France and Germany are spending a week looking at racism and prejudice against foreigners.
The teenagers are being joined by County Durham youngsters from the Youth United project, organised by Durham County Council's international office.
Yesterday, they took part in a workshop organised by the Council for Racial Equality at Durham's County Hall and were given a tour of the city's haunted buildings.
During the week the visitors, who are staying with local families, will be given a presentation by Show Racism The Red Card, the Newcastle organisation that encourages football fans to stamp out racist abuse at matches.
