A POLICE spotter plane had to be drafted in to help trap a bull which had broken loose in a County Durham town.
The bull had escaped from a field off the busy Staindrop Road, in Darlington, on Tuesday night.
After failing to get the beast back in its field, the police plane was used to keep track of the animal with infra-red heat sensors, while officers on the ground attempted to corner it. The bull was on the loose in the Branksome estate for some time, with the plane used from about 8pm to keep an eye on it and any risk of danger from traffic.
Inspector David Orford, said: "They were chasing it round for ages, trying to corner it, and finally the bull was back in its field by about 10.15. There were no problems with traffic flow and there were no injuries."
