Worthington C.I.U. Winter League - Meadowfield moved to the top of the Second Division for the first time in many years with a maximum home win over the visiting Wheatley Hill B.
The Meadowfield points came from Ian Hodgson, Stephen Hughes, Malcolm Hughes, John Jackson and Norman Smith. Meadowfield now hold a one point lead over Langley Park, who are one ahead of Hunwick A and two ahead of Crowtrees.
Langley Park made their fourth consecutive victory when they only dropped one point to the visiting Sherburn Village. The ever-improving Wingate just failed at home to Hunwick A, who edged through to an odd point victory.
Crowtrees maintained their bid for a First Division place for the first time when they only dropped one point at Belmont. Old Shildon held on to their six points lead at the top of the First Division after they only dropped one point to the visiting Spennymoor A. Dennis Dodd took the first frame for the Moors but after that the Shildon side took over with wins from Billy Goggins, Steven Bennett, Michael Pratt with a 34 break and Jossie Aldworth with a 35 break.
Wheatley Hill A held the pace in second place in the First Division after they only dropped one point to the visiting Ferryhill, who had Mark Wilson as their only winner. The Hill's winners were Dean Bryden, Ronnie Peacock, Alan Hall and Dennis Clish.
Shotton Palms dropped down a place after they went down by the odd point to the visiting Newton Aycliffe. Brandon were able to ease their relegation problems after they only dropped one point at Willington. Cockton Hill took the first and last frames in their home match against Witton Gilbert. Bearpark moved back to share the top spot in the Third Division after they only lost the final frame on their visit to Coundo.West Auckland lost their sole ownership of the Third Division leaders place when they could only win by the odd point at Leeholme A. Fishburn B slipped down the table 10 points behind the leaders after they dropped two points to the visiting Crook Belle Vue.Tow Law came through to their fourth win of the season when they beat the visiting Sacriston in the decider. Steve Bradley put the visitors ahead but then Billy McCluskey and Charlie Donaghy won for the Lawyers. Willy Nixon levelled the match but then Sacriston were beaten when Tommy Williams got the better of Jeff Evans.
