YOUNGSTERS across North Yorkshire are being given the chance to become junior lifesavers.
The ambulance service plans to issue primary school youngsters with free first-aid educational handbooks compiled for six to 11-year-olds.
Local businesses are being approached for sponsorship in a bid to provide every primary school with the books free.
Bob White, first aid training manager with the Tees, East and North Yorkshire Ambulance Service, said the scheme had its full support.
"The very best way to learn accident prevention and first aid is to start early," he said.
"Anything that helps youngsters to keep themselves out of danger , and maybe save another life, has got to be worthwhile."
Businesses interested in sponsoring the scheme can contact the Access Partnership on 0345 413 951
