A MAN who took advantage of a drunken teenager after she staggered to his house to use the toilet has been cleared of rape.
But Dennis Coleman, 19, was found guilty of attempted sexual intercourse with a girl under 16.
The jury at Newcastle Crown Court heard how Coleman assaulted the 14-year-old when she called at his home in Stanley, County Durham, after drinking in nearby woods.
Coleman told police he had kissed the girl after she had kissed him first, but said he did not find her attractive.
Coleman, of Kimberley Gardens, Stanley, was cleared of rape, attempted rape and unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 16. He will be sentenced after the preparation of reports.
