A recruitment drive to tackle the crippling manpower shortage in the transport industry is to be launched in the region on Saturday.
Jobseekers across the North-East are being invited to a special event at Gateshead's job centre, where more than 350 vacancies for bus drivers and HGV drivers will be on offer.
Other jobs available will include travel consultants, minibus drivers, driving instructors, Army drivers and mechanics.
The Employment Service has also said that anybody who is unemployed may be eligible for ''fast route'' training.
