Willington Pool League - Sunnybrow Brown Trout caused the major upset of the season when they beat the visiting title challengers from the Prospect Club.
The visitors started well with wins from Shaun Blyth, Steven Britton and Adrian Peacock. However the trout lifted their game and levelled the match with singles wins from Harry Sewell, Les Blackburn and Steve Richardson.
It was a surprise for the trout to be level after the singles but they made it a major turn-up when they took all three doubles points.
Hunwick Club, the league leaders, came close to their second defeat of the season when they visited Willington Commercial and just managed to edge through to an odd point victory.
The visitors went ahead through Mike O'Brien but Keith Patterson and David Trow took the Commercial ahead. The Club took the remaining singles through Robert Todd, Gary Moffatt and Ian Richardson.
The Commercial took doubles points through Robert lee with Keith Patterson and Ben Parkin with Shaun Pardew but the vital fifth point went to Hunwick Club when Robert Todd and Paul Maddison won their doubles. Hunwick Club are five points ahead of the prospect Club, who lead Howden Australian by one point. Bishop Auckland and District League
Spennymoor Weardale pulled off an excellent home win over the strong Bishop Auckland Derby team with two singles points from Martin Short and Lou Copper and one each from Shane Casen and Trevor Irwin. The King's replied with two points for Mal Parry and one each for Warren Stamp and David Jacomb. The King's added the doubles with a win from Stephen Bainbridge and John Searle but Shane Casen clinched the home win with a double in the captain's game over Mal Parry.
Crook Coach and Horses made a good start to their first match in the league when they beat the visiting Witton Park Rose Crown by three points. However the star of the match proved to be the visitors' Paul Frame, who took two singles points and then beat Les Scott in both the captain's games.
There were two singles points for the Coach from Aaron Cowan, Alan Moses and Neil Harker with Michael Burke adding one, whilst Graham Maughan added one to the two won by Paul Frame for the visitors. The Coach took the doubles through Michael Burke and Neil Harker.

Spennymoor League
Spennymoor Half Moon did well to hold on to a share of the top spot when they visited Spennymoor Voltigeur and forced a draw. This left the Voltigeur two points behind the leading group, where the Half Moon are joined in joint top place by the Railway, the Salvin Arms and the Victoria with the Quinns Inn just a point sdrift.
The Voltigeur raced into an early lead with singles wins from S. Santi, D. Briggs, M. Craddock and A. Mole whilst the Half Moon opened their account with a singles win from Paul Hartley. However the half Moon recovered to take both the doubles points with wins from Ian Campbell with Barry Cole and Lee Morgan with Paul Hartley. The draw was achieved when Kevin Malloy of the Half Moon beat T. Nixon in the captain's game.

Durham & District Pool League
Chester-le-Street Garden Farm made a fantastic recovery from being five down at home to Durham Woodman before eventually edging through to victory by winning the captain's game.
The Woodman hit top form from the start and had wins from John Mavin, Geoff Arnott, Owen Lonnegan, Leigh Mavin and Ian Bertram. The home side began their recovery with wins from Trevor Walton, Lee Holdsworth, Ian Mitcheson and Ian Staines. The visitors then moved one short of victory when Ian Bertram won, but the Garden Farm equalised with a win from Trevor Walton., who went on to clinch victory when he beat Ian Bertram in the captain's game.
