RECENTLY heartbroken, would like to meet caring companion for love and friendship ahead of Valentine's Day.
The Blue Cross animal adoption centre in Topcliffe, Thirsk, is hoping romantic animal lovers will come to the aid of lovelorn Labrador-cross Judy.
She was taken to the centre with a doberman after their owners decided they were no longer able to look after the pair. When the doberman died of cancer, Judy was inconsolable, pacing up and down, day and night, in her kennel.
Sue Scott, deputy manager at the centre, said: "It broke Judy's heart when her friend died. She almost gave up the will to live. When you take her out for a walk, she searches everywhere for her.
"Ideally, we would like to rehome her in a household where there is already a dog.
"No dog could ever replace her friend, but at least it would help fill a gap in her life."
Anyone who could offer her a new home is asked to contact Blue Cross on (01845) 577759.
