YOUNG brass band players are to be given a masterclass by one of the country's top conductors
About 70 musicians aged between 11 and 25, from about 30 band, in the area, will attend a workshop led by Nicholas Childs, at County Hall, in Durham City, on Saturday.
The day-long session with Mr Childs, who conducts the Black Dyke Band, will end with a concert for the musicians' families and friends.
This is the third brass workshop in just over a year to be organised by Durham County Council. It was planned immediately after the first workshop, held at Bishop Auckland in January last year.
A council spokesman said: "The county council is committed to supporting the brass band movement, not only because of its association with our rich mining tradition, but also because it provides a very worthwhile outlet for the energy and talent of all the bands' players, listeners and supporters."
Musicians taking part range from beginners to those at championship level
