Bag snatch man sought

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl had her handbag snatched while waiting for a bus.

The girl was at Bishop Auckland Bus Station at about 11pm on Friday, when a man snatched her bag and ran off towards Aldi's store. The thief was in his late teens to early 20s, about 5ft 4in to 5ft 6in, of skinny build. He wore a woollen hat and a thigh-length dark-coloured jacket. GUIDED WALK: A four-mile walk sets off from a layby near the Baydale Beck inn, Low Coniscliffe, at 1.40pm on Wednesday, February 20. There is a charge, payable at the start of the walk, of £2 for adults and £1 for pensioners, children and those holding a Darlington Borough Council leisure saver card.

FLOWER PERFORMANCE: Darlington Arts Centre will host a performance of The Girl Who Cut Flowers, on Tuesday, February 19. Tickets cost £6, and are available on (01325) 486555.

GENERAL MEETING: Heighington Village Hall Association will hold its annual meeting on March 12, starting at 7pm. The meeting will be in Heighington Village Hall, and refreshments will be available.

COFFEE MORNING: There will be a coffee morning on Saturday, March 2, in St John's Vestry, St Herbert's and St John's Church, Darlington. The event will be held between 10am and noon, and entry will be 50p, including coffee and biscuits. There will also be a raffle and a tombola.

Evening concert: A concert will be held in Darlington Arts Centre, on Saturday. The Vogler string quartet will perform at the centre in Vane Terrace from 7.30pm. The concert is part of the Darlington Music Society programme.

Scout archery: Scout groups who want to take part in archery can arrange to learn the sport at the community hall in Widdowfeld Street, Darlington. Archery events can be arranged for most evenings. Leaders who want to learn more can arrange sessions on Wednesdays. For details call (01325) 365677.
