DRUGS officers carried out a major raid today as part of a crackdown on dealers.
Officers in Middlesbrough carried out the raid as part of the "Dealer A Day" campaign launched two months ago.
Today, a major raid took place on two houses in Deepdale Avenue in the Grove Hill area of the town.
A 59-year-old man and his 48-year-old wife were arrested along with a 43-year-old man from Grangetown after a large quantity of crack cocaine and heroin worth around £1,000 and £1,000 in cash were seized.
Detective Superintendent Adrian Roberts, who pioneered and leads the initiative, said: "This is the best result of the Dealer A Day campaign so far. Detectives from the Dedicated Drugs Unit are delighted with today's outcome. These high profile operations will continue and so long as information keeps coming on from the community, there will be no let up in Middlesbrough's fight against drug dealers."
Before today's raids, officers had carried out 101 swoops since the campaign was launched on December 3 and detectives claimed successful results in half of the homes.
There have been 96 arrests made and drugs with a street value of £7,000 seized.
Anyone with information about drug dealers should call any police officer or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
