A FIREFIGHTER who saved a three-year-old child's life has been rewarded for his long service.
Assistant Divisional Officer Walter Moore received the fire brigade long service and good conduct medal at Teesside International Airport yesterday.
ADO Moore, second-in-command of the airport's fire service, was honoured for 23 years' work.
The 46-year-old was praised recently for his actions in helping a boy who suffered massive head injuries in a car accident.
ADO Moore, who was off-duty, used his training with the British Association of Medical Technicians to save Ethan Blackburn, of Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
Ethan needed 260 stitches in his head after he was thrown through a car windscreen.
Before becoming a firefighter, ADO Moore was a carpet fitter, but he now even spends his spare time firefighting as a retained member of County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue, at Bishop Auckland.
