A BIG street party for all residents could be how Ferryhill marks the Queen's golden jubilee this year.
Members of the Ferryhill 2000 committee have discussed how the town could take part in the celebrations.
One idea had been to establish a fund which could be used by people wanting to organise individual street parties, but that was rejected.
Cash is already in place for the group to use over the weekend of June 1 to 4, thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Awards for All fund.
Jamie Corrigan, secretary of Ferryhill 2000, said: "We are planning to organise a town-wide event. It is probably going to be just one big event, but we are not sure exactly what we are going to have yet. It may well be one large street party, with entertainers and things like that, similar to what people saw with the silver jubilee."
Ideas for the celebrations are being invited. Contact Ferryhill Town Council on (01740) 652157.
