CHINESE artists and performers have kicked off celebrations for the Chinese Year of the Horse with activities at a North-East tourist attraction.
A Cookie Trail has been set up at Newcastle's Life Interactive World, where under-12s can start by having their faces painted with their Chinese birth sign, then see a theatre performance of traditional unicorn dances by Chinese musicians and dancers.
There is also a display about Chinese medicines, including acupuncture.
Storytellers are relating myths and tales from ancient China, and a small stage show demonstrates lantern making.
Life Interactive World director Linda Conlon said: "Chinese New Year presents a wonderful opportunity to share and understand some of the Chinese traditions.
"We are thrilled to be able to offer such a fantastic programme.
