THE father of a young man killed by a rare heart disease is performing a rock 'n' roll tribute to him.
Levon Morland, 22, of West Rainton, County Durham, died in his sleep of Wolfe Parkinson White disease, which causes occasional heart murmurs.
Fun-loving Levon, a call centre worker, who was applying to be a housemate in Big Brother, died last month after a night out with his twin brother, Aran.
Jeff Morland, 48, is North-East political officer for the engineering union Amicus, but in his spare time sings with the rhythm 'n' blues and rock 'n' roll band, Barking Billy and the Scrapyard Dogs.
Tomorrow night, St Valentine's, the band, which cancelled its gigs in the wake of the tragedy, will perform for the first time since Levon's death.
The gig, at the O'Neill's Irish pub in Claypath, Durham, will be a fundraiser for the charity Cardiac Rick in the Young (Cry), which is campaigning to raise awareness of heart problems in the otherwise healthy young people.
"My son loved it. He liked his dad being a rock 'n' roller," said Jeff.
"The gig was booked and we thought it would be a good way to get back into it and also raise money for the charity.
"Up to eight fit and healthy young people drop down suddenly every week and not a lot is being done about it.
"Cry is campaigning to give it a bigger profile and trying to get some money from the Government for more testing.
"We'll be raffling lots of stuff and selling badges at the gig.''
Steve Percival, of O'Neill's, said: "Levon was an amazing person who packed so much into his life."
Admission to the gig is free and the music is expected to start at about 9pm
