BUSINESS Link's enhanced Start Right in Business (SRiB) programme was launched yesterday.
SRiB, which became part of Business Link's services last February, offers easy access to a comprehensive network of help and support.
In a bid to increase enterprise in the area, the programme has been strengthened and revitalised, and was relaunched at Middlesbrough Football Club's Cellnet Stadium.
Representatives from Business Link, including Kath Dowson, manager of SRiB, delivered the aims and objectives of the improved service to intermediary organisations from across the Tees Valley.
Mrs Dowson explained the reasons for the relaunch. She said: "Like any service, SRiB had reached a point in time when it required development in order to meet customer demands and the changing environment of the Tees Valley.
"Through extensive consultation with both customers and the enterprise network the programme was evaluated and developed into this new service."
She said: "We now have an excellent platform to build on and believe that we can make the North-East a vibrant, self reliant and outward looking region, with the aspiration, ambition and confidence to unlock the potential of its people."
In recent months SRiB has expanded its appeal to a wider market.
In November, Business Link launched a marketing campaign, designed to reach as wide a range of people as possible, with a particular focus on the young.
Mrs Dowson said: "The recent changes to SRiB give added value to an already successful service.
"The improvements mark the continued efforts of Business Link to encourage a culture of entrepreneurship in the Tees Valley."
