A COLLEGE student is preparing to help under-privileged children in India as part of her gap year.
Chloe Campbell, of Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington, has chosen to spend her year off doing voluntary work in North-West India.
The 17-year-old, who will be working as part of Gap Activity Projects, is due to fly to Delhi in August and will work on the sub-continent for up to eight months.
She will spend time in orphanages and day care centres for children suffering from cerebral palsy.
To make the journey, Chloe needs to raise £1,700 towards her flight costs. She said: "I will be grateful for any help. Anyone who gives anything will know it will go to making life a little better for poor children."
On her return to Britain, Chloe will study sociology at Leeds University.
She said: "I am facing a busy next six months. As well as A-level studies, I will be doing a Saturday job and running a summer ball, a charity auction, garden party and a stall at a car boot sale."
Anyone wanting to contribute to Chloe's attempts to raise the necessary funds can make donations at Abbey National, 43 High Row in Darlington into the Chloe Campbell ISA Fund.
