Willington League - The Prospect Club's press for their first Championship since the league's re-organisation was put on hold when the visiting Willington Market made a remarkable recovery to win by the odd point.
Stuart Wayman put the Market ahead but then Lane Sample, Stephen Britton, Ernie Sample and Phil Blyth took the Prospect one short of victory. However Tony Atkinson took the final singles for the Market, who then levelled by taking the first two doubles. In the deciding doubles Alan McAloon and Tony Atkinson sank the Prospect by beating Trevor Allchurch and Ces Atkinson.
Hunwick Club extended their lead at the top to seven points with Howden Australian moving into second place, one point ahead of the Prospect Club.

Bishop Auckland and District League
Bishop Auckland RAFA Club made their first victory in the league after they took one of the two captain's points to beat their hosts by the odd point at Bishop Auckland Cumberland Arms. The home side had two points from Geoff Proud and one each from Ian Lowe and David Grayson whilst the RAFA replied with two points from Simon Roberts and Bob Chambers and one each from Stephen Connolly and Stuart Hambleton.
The Cumberland took the doubles through David Grayson and Ian Lowe. Geoff Proud took the first captain's point against Stuart Hambleton, but Stuart made the visitors rejoice when he beat Geoff in the second to record an odd point victory.
Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B showed they will be a threat to all teams after they only dropped two points to their A team, who had a singles win from Steve Wilson and a doubles from Steve with Kevin Douthwaite. The B team had two singles points from Chris Peacock, Paul Willey, Michael Hoggart and Kevin Stewart with Michael Hoggart adding both captain's points against Michael Plews.

Framwellgate Moor Marquis of Granby were stretched before they edged through to an odd point victory at Durham Woodman. The home side opened with a win from John Mavin but the visitors moved ahead through Paul Shutt and Dave Hodgson, Leigh Mavin pulled the teams level again but then the Marquis took four in a row through Graeme Comerford, Paul Dudding, Paul Shutt and Dave Hodgson. Brian Dunn and John Mavin replied to maintain the hopes of the Woodman but then Graeme Comerford scoreed the vital seventh point for the Framwellgate team. The Woodman still fought back and had a point from Ian King with Ian Bertram finishing with a win in the captain's game.

Spennymoor Victoria moved up to second place in the table after they came through at Spennymoor Pit Laddie by two points. The Pit Laddie had singles wins from L. Atkinson and I. Mains whilst K. Cranswick, J. Ibbottson and A. Shaa moved the visitors ahead. The Victoria increased their lead when M. Nelson and S. Ball beat J. Hickling and B. Williams in the first doubles, but I. Mains and L. Atkinson kept the match alive for the home side when they beat J. Ibbottson and I. Cranswick in the second doubles. The Victoria clinched their two points victory when A. Shaw beat D. mains in the captain's game.
Spennymoor Salvin Arms moved to the top of the table after they only dropped one point at Spennymoor Football Club A with a two points lead over the Victoria, who are one ahead of Spennymoor Half Moon. However the stiff fine rules were applied to the Ash Tree, the Hillingdon and the Railway for failing to get their score cards in.

The Bishop Auckland Aclet got February off to a good start with a fine win against Henknowle Manor. Dave Wilson and Malcolm Cooper took the first two singles against Martin Armstrong and Bob Chambers of the visiting Manor, before Ron Wright opened the visitors' account by beating Keith Young to take the score to 2-1. Derek Cooper then beat John Collinson and Phil Young beat John-Henry Fitzgerald to take the Aclet three ahead. The Manor won the first doubles with John Collinson and Steve Welford beating Chris Howe and Malcolm Cooper to close the gap. However the Aclet then completed the scoring when Derek Cooper and Phil Young beat Chris Henderson and Bob Chambers in the second doubles and Brian Cable beat Ron Wright to take the captains game.
