A FORMER Marske schoolboy is celebrating after picking up the best results on his Navy training course.
Marine Engineering Mechanic Lee Gatenby, 22, from Redcar, completed his basic training at HMS Raleigh, the Navy's training establishment at Cornwall, and received the Ganges Trophy on behalf of his division, Drake 46 Entry, who obtained the best results during their training.
Lee, who attended Bydales School in Marske, was a welder before he decided he wanted a life at sea.
Now he is looking forward to a varied and challenging career with the opportunity to travel the world.
He is pictured receiving his trophy from Captain Adrian James Johns CBE, The Commanding Officer of HMS Ocean, who took the salute at his passing out parade.
Lee will continue his training at the Royal Navy Submarine School within HMS Raleigh
