A FAMILY-RUN butcher's shop has been praised in a national magazine after a reporter visited the shop.
Dirk Pittaway butchers, in Borough Road, Darlington, featured in the latest copy of the Shooting Times, and was praised for the variety of game on sale.
Mr Pittaway even shoots the game, which is then displayed in the shop window.
The shop sells pheasant, duck, hare, rabbit and even wild boar, much of which he kills during shooting events at a friend's farm, in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Mr Pittaway said: "We do get people coming in and saying what a nice, old-fashioned butcher's shop this is, but this is the first time anyone has written about us in a magazine.
"Each week we sell about 30 to 40 rabbits, plus scores of pheasants, woodcock, pigeons, wild duck, and partridge shot by me.
"Our customers come from all over to buy the meat and game.
