business leaders will meet this month to discuss the next phase of a city's development.
As part of Sunderland City Council's Fresh Thinking strategy, key players in the region have been invited to attend the event at the newly- renovated Exchange Building, on Thursday, February 28.
It follows last year's launch of a ten-year blueprint for Sunderland City Centre, aimed at co-ordinating and driving forward regeneration.
The strategy focuses on development of prime sites, expanding the range of shops, cultural and leisure facilities and identifying housing opportunities.
Delegates will be updated on sites marked for development, including Sunderland ARC and the riverside, in a talk by William Ault, city environment director.
Speakers will include John Montgomery from Urban Cultures, who will reveal the findings of key studies into the Sunniside district and the evening economy, and Graeme Bell, from the North-East Civic Trust, who will discuss the restoration of Old Sunderland.
Delegates will have a chance to get involved in an overhaul of policies and proposals within the council's unitary development plan.
