A MAN whose enthusiasm for brass band music has rubbed off on his family has received a national award.
Brian Henderson, 49, who formed Ebor Brass Band 22 years ago, has been awarded a diploma of honour by the London Worshipful Company of Musicians for services to brass bands.
The accolade was one of only five diplomas handed out throughout the country.
Five of Mr Henderson's six children also play in Ebor Brass Band, which practises in Westfield Primary School, Acomb, York.
He said: "I teach for the fun of it and it is nice to get some recognition. I have been teaching people to play brass instruments for 34 years, all on a voluntary basis."
