TRUSTEES of 19th Century hall say its turnover has soared from £3,000 to £20,000 in its first year since it was redeveloped.
Pickering Memorial Hall, a former cornmill and Grade 2 listed building, had been in a run-down state for several years before being being restored at a cost of £847,000.
Chairman Bill McCall said: "It is proving an economic asset to Pickering, with an increasing number of events, conferences and exhibitions being staged, which is bringing more people into the town and as a result the shops and cafes are benefiting".
