PLANS to expand a seaside resort's conservation area will be discussed today.
Hartlepool Borough Council's policy scrutiny forum will consider proposals to alter the boundaries of the Seaton Carew Conservation Area.
The expansion, if approved, will lead to properties at 12-25 The Front, 38-51 The Front, 70-78 The Front, 5-9 South End and the bus station and shelter being included within the conservation area.
Council officials have said there are three main reasons for the boundary review:
l Buildings of special architectural or historic interest that currently fall outside the conservation area, should be included within it so their future development can be of a higher design quality.
l The current boundary is broken and effectively forms two areas, hampering attempts to take a unified approach to improvements.
l Aligning the boundary within a proposed Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme would make some key buildings currently outside the conservation area eligible for funding.
