MARKET traders are been given lessons in running their business.
The traders are attending a ten- week course organised by Darlington Business Venture, which aims to give the traders more of an edge in a competitive business.
The Learning Skills Council and Darlington Borough Council's economic regeneration department fund the course.
Topics covered include marketing, accountancy, promotion, products and stock.
At the end of the course the traders will receive a nationally- recognised certificate from the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative.
Councillor Stephen Harker, Cabinet Member for Community Protection said: "This course will help our market traders in what is an increasingly competitive business."
"With the help of Darlington Business Venture we are working to ensure that a valuable part of the town's heritage remains healthy."
