A FORMER rock star is taking part in a tour with a difference.
Instead of playing to sell-out audiences around the world, Jeff Rich - who was a drummer with Status Quo - is on a tour of schools on Teesside.
The first session in Stockton borough took place yesterday at Grangefield School, where children were given the chance to join in a percussion master class.
The youngsters, aged ten, listened to stories of what it was like to be a famous musician, before being given the chance to play the drums and other instruments.
Darren Beatty, from the school, said: "It was an opportunity for the children to meet someone they otherwise would not get the chance to.
"They all really enjoyed it and were given the chance to have a go at many different instruments.
"The big finale, where each child played an instrument, was absolutely brilliant.
"I do think, though, that the staff enjoyed the whole event as much as the children."
