OLDER people in Darlington are being urged to find out how they can shape their own future in the community.
Darlington councillor Marian Swift, Canon Bob Spence of St Augustine's Church, Darlington, and TV star John Grundy met yesterday to promote the Growing Older in Darlington Strategy.
The strategy will be launched next week and hundreds of invitations have been sent out to elderly people and those working with them, to attend.
Formulated by older people, the strategy aims to give a voice to those over 50 and allow them to have a say in the way the community is run.
Coun Swift said: "This is an opportunity for older people to come along and find out how they can become involved in shaping their own future.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone to the event which promises to be fun as well as informative."
