A woman was slashed with a blade during a daytime attack in Houghton-le-Spring, Wearside, on Tuesday.
The 48-year-old victim was walking along a subway between Frederick Place and Hall Lane shortly after 2pm when she was approached from behind by two men. One asked her for a light before grabbing her handbag which contained an amount of cash. She was then slashed across the face. The woman sustained minor facial injuries and was in a state of shock. One of the attackers was about 20 with dirty, blond hair. He wore a black jacket and jeans. The other was also in his 20s.
